Friday
It's raining hard, on and off downpour. May begins, and with that so does my schedule, I have exam upon exam and finals upon finals.
I got near no sleep last night, and was woken up by a power outage at 3:00am (due to the heavy rain).
I am slowly dragging myself through these last few weeks until summer starts, and then I am free to roam and travel again.

I've been listening to some older Ukrainian music recently, but I can't seem to find any info on most of the songs. I translated a few titles here:

They're from an album called "Masterpeices of Ukrainian Popular Art" or "Ukrainian Music Heritage" which has a distinctive blue and white album cover.

Monday
These next few weeks are going to be rough. I have to study for exams, take exams, finish paperwork, go to the doctor (twice?), pack for june's trip, take a driving course, and finish projects from the rest of my school courses.
It's going to be long, but only two or so more weeks and then I'm out of here. June will roll around in no time, bringing with her a very much needed break. I ought to get a calendar or something to keep track of all of this..
Yesterday, I went out to the mall, got a new book. the Cello Suites by Eric Siblin. I love love love the cello suites, and pablo casal's renditions are amazing, I love to see this book telling that story and explaining the sort of music theory side of it too. I'd read about a quarter of it in a cafe a few months ago, and loved it. Finally, I got it. I need to finish reading Bel Canto before I can resume that though..

Keeping on the topic of adding whatever I'm listening to at the end of my blog (just like the last post), Today, and for the past week, I've been listening to Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou. A pianist from Ethiopia, who's life I find very interesting. A pianist her whole life, then a nun, who stioll practiced 9 hours a day, and went on to become classicaly renowned. Her music is beautiful, Evening Breeze is my current favorite, it's so perfect, exactly what I look for in a song.

Monday
Yet another rainstorm. Far bigger this time though, last night was nonstop thunder and lightning. I am grateful for it though, the plants are brighter than ever. It actually works out very well, since yesterday I planted the hyacinth I mentioned in my earlier microblog, so hopefully that helped it find its place in the soil. Along with that, I took in a golden Pothos, one that had previously been living outdoors.. Now that it's inside it seems much happier. I repotted it, watered it in, and set it on a windowsill. Already, its one (and only) leaf has perked up towards the sun.

I've gotten through one exam of many to come. Feeling good about it, and unfortunately less about the others. I will study like crazy though.. Tonight will be spent studying nonstop, especially since one upcoming exam is something I'm supposed to be really good at, however on practice tests have done horribly..

Recent listening has been somewhat stagnant, but I find myself returning to old favorites. One of which I absolutely love, and think everyone needs to hear. Piero Piccioni's "It's Possible". This song has been with me for years, I love it more than any other Piccioni song I've ever heard. I wish I could find the documentary 'Il Dio sotto la pelle' ("god under the skin") it's from. Unfortunately, it's been mostly lost for a long time now.

Wednesday
It's been a minute, but thankfully finals are over and I've (luckily) gained access to a new computer. Previously, I'd use whatever the school had available, and outside of that my old (very very old you have no idea how old...) PC. When that PC finally kicked the bucket I moved to my also very old laptop (not nearly as old, this time reasonably old). Of course, after a while of using this it began to malfunction.. still usable though. Recently, It joined my PC in the pile of tech salvage. Thankfully I've gotten a new (used, not too old) gaming laptop. Unfortunately it''s battery life is not great... which isn't exactly ideal.
moving on, I've been listening to the new Boards of Canada album (inferno). So far I love Naraka, I've probably had it on loop more than I should. I highly recommend Boards of Canada, and their new album.

Writing while out of town, on a borrowed computer. More than a month since last post, my trip has begun and I am well out of town. Everything has been great so far, It's been rainy so everything is green. I love it, during the summer at home most of my plants die of drought so it's beautiful to see so much greenery. I've spent these first few days relaxing, mostly staying in (due to rain) and going out for groceries and whatnot. Today and yesterday I went to bookstores - I got The passenger by Cormac McCarthy yesterday, and today Solaris by Stanislaw Lem. I love Stanislaw Lem, and have been looking everywhere for more of his writing. At home, my bookstores carry 2 of his books at most. When I looked here, they had all of them. Three straight off my reading list, I ended up picking up Solaris because I didn't go in planning to buy anything, but I promised myself if I ever saw Solaris in person I'd buy it then and there.

Wednesday
As the summer comes to an end I've become quite busy, hence the long hiatus... With my time though I've found myself still fairly productive. Ive kept myself pretty organized. I use a pocket-sized moleskine as a commonplace journal, where I write calendars and schedules along with accounts tracking my expenses and really whatever else I feel like including (bird sightings, for one). Along with that I use Jira, which is usually used for project management in workplaces, but I've found it works really well for me as a kind of dashboard so I can see and schedule everything I need to get done. If you want something similar but less technical, I'd also recommend 'Trello'.
I'm planning a major overhaul of the blog section of the site, I want to keep my site minimal so instead of having multiple pages for each post and having to edit them all every time I add a new one (since I don't know how to use Iframes...) I'm going to make a single page with dropdowns for each post. It'll be tedious to archive every post, and I likely won't keep all of them, but I think it'll be worth it to make adding new posts more convenient.
